Fabrication Team Lead

We seek an experienced Fabrication Team Lead for a leadership position in our welding company.

Lucas MWF is in search of a Fabrication Team Lead who will motivate and further the operations of our fabrication teams. This position exposes you to a wide variety of operations both in the shop and in the field, as well as in-office processes. This position requires interaction with outside representatives, residential, and commercial clients.

Experience in metal fabrication, blueprint reading, stick welding, TIG welding, and MIG welding is mandatory. In addition to working with a variety of metals and other materials, you will need to be comfortable with measuring and cutting equipment. This person will also need to exemplify and exercise personal safety practices.

Our fabrication team members are versed in a variety of operations and in the event a member steps out, the Fabrication Team Lead will need to step in. This position entails some teaching responsibilities, some project management duties, and periodic travel responsibilities.

  • A weld test will be mandatory in aluminum, stainless, and mild steel.

Position Details

  • Full time, year-round

Job Description

  • Work interdependently to accomplish tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Responsible for participating in and overseeing a wide variety of fabrication projects
  • Performs a range of duties including but not limited to:
    • Study and interpret assembly instructions
    • Fabricate and assemble structural steel products
    • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches
    • Interpret measurements
    • Operate equipment, including but not limited to lathes, drill presses, grinders, saw and cutting tables, forklifts, scissor lifts, telescopic forklifts, booms, and material lifts.
    • Willingness to periodically complete, assist in, or train mobile welding operations

Qualifications

Technical Qualifications

  • Must have experience in metal fabrication, at least 5 years of hands-on experience preferred
  • Knowledge of welding techniques: MIG, TIG, Stick, FCAW, and Brazing
  • Must possess a wide range of own basic hand tools and mechanical skills *Required tool list provided at interview
  • Must understand the importance of deadlines
  • Must be able to critically think
  • Has a leadership disposition: self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and can collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to interpret measurements, read fractions, and a tape measure

  • Good driving record and ability to pass random drug testing

Compensation

$24.00-$30.00 per hour, depending on experience
